More clearing work in Comfort's Wood...

Monday 6th October 2014 and contractors are busy once again in the woods with cutting back the overgrown areas beside the woodland rides etc....



















This is similar to the 2010 work but with the emphasis more on the low growing vegetation than actually coppicing the trees as they did then.


I also noticed that the main entrance off Swattenden Lane the contractors used now seems to be in need of some work itself, as the gatepost appears to have been damaged, or maybe more likely, has rotted?

    Looks a lovely woods JJ with plenty of different habitats with the pond etc... Love the 'fun run' video, very impressive!

    Hi JJ - interesting to see this new blog which I will add to my blogroll. Woodland with rides and a pond sounds like a perfect place for bug hunting in summer and just a lovely place to spend time in. You are lucky to have this place nearby. See there are plenty of interesting fungi there too. Loved the grass snake curled up on the bracken too from a few posts back. :-)

      Thanks for this comment Mandy. I have actually only just found it-for some reason I am not getting notifications yet ;-) Also some comments seem to have disappeared but anyhow...yes it IS a great place and to be withing walking distance is a real bonus...
